About

The Sewing Room was born out of a simple belief - that sewing is a skill worth learning, and learning it should feel good.

We're a New York-based sewing studio offering small-group classes and private lessons for adults and children of all skill levels. From your very first stitch to your first finished garment, we're with you every step of the way — with patient instruction, a warm studio environment, and a community of people who love making things with their hands.

Our classes are intentionally small so that no one gets lost. Every student matters here. Every project is personal. And every session is designed to leave you feeling more confident than when you walked in.

We can't wait to sew with you.

Meet Your Sewing Mentor

The Sewing Room was founded by Besa Rugova, a passionate and creative designer with a background in fine arts and a degree in fashion design from the prestigious Parsons School of Design.

With her own successful clothing line, more than seven years of experience as a college professor, and years of mentoring children ages 5 and up through art and design, Besa has dedicated her career to inspiring creativity in others.

She believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to create and sew. Sewing is more than a skill - it is a wonderful way to connect, express creativity, build confidence, and have fun.
